Trees stretch towards the sky, flowers lean into the sun, and mountains posture up. Rivers run with the current, the ocean and the horizon meet each other, and animals instinctively adapt to their environment. How phenomenal is it that every life form other than people go through their life span without worrying about how they’re going to do it?
We are part of this tapestry, but our thoughts act as barriers.
Imagine if the tree doubted its strength to grow tall or the river hesitated to flow. They would not flourish, and we would not be privy to their natural beauty. We worry, we overthink and we doubt ourselves so much that we interfere with the process of gaining wisdom through what life gives us.
I savour my quiet, predictable, and routine life, but when adversity comes, I embrace it now. I accept that change is inevitable, and I accept that not all change is an enjoyable experience, quite the opposite actually, but I don’t resist any of it anymore.
It’s ironic that we struggle with change, because sometimes the resistance itself is what makes change so hard.
Depending on how we cope through the challenges, we either change ourselves for the better because we use the challenge to catalyze growth or, the challenge takes us down. Sometimes we’re not emotionally, physically, or mentally equipped to handle a situation so we bypass using it as an opportunity to grow from.
